On Friday 19th February 2010 personnel from Royal Air Force Marham joined Florence Green to celebrate her 109th birthday.

Mrs Green worked at Narborough Airfield and at RAF Marham as a steward in the Officer’s Mess after joining the Women’s Royal Air Force (WRAF) in September 1918 at the age of 17. As if reaching the grand age of 109 wasn’t enough reason to celebrate, it is also believed that Florence is Britain’s oldest surviving First World War veteran.
