For about a dozen years, I have written about the environment and other topics for National Geographic, the New York Times, Orion, Nature, and Slate, among others. In 2011, I published my first book, Rambunctious Garden: Saving Nature in a Post-Wild World. I live with my husband and two children in Klamath Falls, Oregon. My mission is to tell stories about the changing world that inform and enlighten without inducing paralysis or profound depression. It can be kind of a toughie.
